10. What limitations are pediatric cardiologists facing in terms of CHD diagnostics and treatment in the presence of symptomatic COVID-19?

Not only non-invasive cardiological diagnostic procedures are limited for urgent and emergent situations, but also pediatric/congenital catheterization laboratories have dramatically reduced case volumes following postponed elective procedures. [24] Hence availability of catheterization is limited in vast majority of centers. Cardiac centers in regions with greater COVID-19 prevalence are more likely to delay urgent but not emergent case types. The decision regarding urgent cardiac surgery is expected to be based on a multidisciplinary team decision and if possible surgery should be delayed until the patient’s symptoms have improved and/or testing has been repeatedly negative.
