This year, the terms of our current Secretary General Ina Michel-Behnke & Scientific Secretary Werner Budts will come to an end and therefore two positions on the AEPC Council will be opening up from the time of the AEPC 2026 Business Meeting (14 May 2026):
- Secretary General (5-year term)
- Scientific Secretary (5-year term)
We therefore now invite our members to make themselves available for one of these positions and join our active council to further advance AEPC.
Nominations can be submitted via email until 1 April 2026 to the current Secretary General, Ina Michel-Behnke through the AEPC office - office@aepc.org.
Duties & responsibilities
Secretary General
- Responsible for the daily business of the association.
- Summon all meetings and circulate required documents to members as required by the Constitution.
- Maintain records of the proceedings and transactions of the association.
- Ensure that correspondence and general communications with all members are maintained regularly and periodically as established by the Constitution.
- Screen membership applications prior to presentation to the National Delegate and/or council for approval.
- Liaison with the Education Committee (EC).
- Liaison with the National Delegates & Chairperson of the Board of National Delegates.
- Share responsibilities with the President to represent the council in legal matters.
Scientific Secretary
- Responsible for the scientific programme of the Annual Meeting, in collaboration with the Annual Meeting Chairperson and the working group boards.
- Chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC).
- Promote and coordinate scientific activities and publications, joint & partially overlapping task with Education Committee.
- Liaison with other associations for promoting common activities.
For all nominations, the following rules apply:
- Any candidate should provide a CV plus a letter of motivation.
- Your nomination is to be supported by 5 active members from 2 European countries.
- Membership in good standing.
- AEPC council officers need to originate from different countries, therefore we cannot accept nominations from the Czech Republic (President) and Ireland (Treasurer) this year.
The council may also propose candidates for the vacant positions.
When there is more than one candidate for these positions, an online voting poll will opened within several days following the nominations deadline. Voting members will have 3 weeks for voting. The announcement of the new council composition will be made during the AEPC 2026 Padua Business Meeting on 14 May.
