Japan junior exchange program 2025/2026 - Congratulations to the winners!

The AEPC-JSPCCS junior exchange program between AEPC and the Japanese Society of Pediatric Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery (JSPCCS) continues to be an attractive opportunity for our junior members!

This exchange program - a visit to a paediatric cardiology institute in Japan for a training period of at least 4 weeks - was created to promote international collaboration and provides an opportunity to support the careers of our junior members. Junior members in good standing were can apply for this exchange program, The counter program from JSPCCS will provide an opportunity for three fellows from Japan to visit European institutes.

This year we received 21 applications and we thank all applicants for their participation (and of course encourage those who did not win this year, to apply again next year) and we congratulate the AEPC Junior member winners:

  1. Oung Savly (Cambodia) → Nagano Children’s Hospital, Nagano, Azumino city
  2. Julian Hochpöchler (Austria) → Osaka Women's and Children's Hospital, 840 Murodocho Izumi Osaka, Japan
  3. Sara Moscatelli (UK) → Osaka City General Hospital, 2-13-22 Miyakojimahondori, Miyakojima, Osaka

The awardees have been be informed about the allocated insititution, and will be planning their trips!

AEPC will pay for the economy class return ticket to Japan, and provide pocket money to the awardees.

We look forward to hearing more about their experience in the coming months!

Vice versa, 3 Japanese fellows will be coming to Europe:

  1. Chihiro Ajimi → Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) - Nico Blom
  2. Hiroki Uchiyama → Children’s Heart Centre "2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and Motol University Hospital - Jan Janoušek
  3. Hiroshi Numata → The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust - Zdenka Reinhardt
