Skaiste Sendzikaite for the research project “ early vascular aging in children with coarctation”. Skaiste is a Paediatric Cardiology resident from  the Children‘s Hospital in  Vilnius, Lithuania. In this study vascular function and the relationship with early hypertension will be studied in children with repaired and unrepaired coarctation. It is an international collaboration with the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw and  the Clinic for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, University Hospital for Children in Riga. The AEPC congratulates Skaiste and her  supervisors and we are looking forward to see the results of this research project that will be presented at a future AEPC meeting.


Mari Nieves Velasco Forte of the Hospital del Virgen del Rocio in Sevilla, Spain, A Prospective study with retrospective case-control analysis in patients with complex CHD to be performed over a period of 12 month in a multi centre setting including five centres in Europe. Creating 3D replicas of anatomical structures of complex congenital heart disease using 3D reconstructions from imaging such as CT or MRI in order to:  improve surgical planning,  reducing the time of surgery , cardiopulmonary bypass time , morbidity,  operative mortality and hospital stay


Alban-Elouen Baruteau from the Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield  for a large international multicenter study on the incidence and outcome of arrhythmias in patients with double discordance
